Yekaterinburg is the centre of Sverdlovsk region, Ural Federal District and Volga-Ural military district. City is the 4th big by population in Russian Federation.(1 340 000 people). It is situated at the eastern slope of Ural Mountains along the banks of Iset river (Tobol feeder) and on the boundary of Eupore and Asia. The city was founded in 1723 as a centre of Ural mountain region. 
Ekaterinburg is the place where the last Russian Tsar Nikolas II and his famoly spent last 78 days of their life. At the place of their execution there's a Cathedral on the Blood that symbolizes that tragic event of July 1918. Also 15 km from Ekaterinburg at the place where the bodies of the family were buried there's a Unique Monastery of All Saint Martyrs (GAnina Yama) was erected and it's really peacefull place which worth to visit during your staying in Ekaterinburg.
